The OpenFlexure Microscope is an open hardware, 3D-printed, lab-grade automated microscope developed by a team of academic researchers in the UK. IO Rodeo are supporting the distributed manufacturing of the OpenFlexure Microscope as part of the Open Science Shop global network of open science hardware manufacturers.

IO Rodeo's OpenFlexure Kits

Currently we offer the following two kits:

  • The OpenFlexure Microscope Assembly kit includes hardware, stepper motors, Sangaboard v0.5, Raspberry Pi camera and cable and more.
  • The OpenFlexure Microscope Kit includes the assembly kit PLUS all of the 3D-printed parts with an option to customize your microscope colors.

Supporting Open Science Hardware

IO Rodeo donates 20% of profits from sales of our OpenFlexure kits to the Humanitarian Technology Trust to support continued research and development.

Additionally, we purchase the Sangaboard v0.5 from TauLab who are donating a portion of funds from Sangaboard sales to support a Tanzanian makerspace co-founded by the original Sangaboard creator.
